Fort Aguada |
Fort is located on river Mondovi. Built in 1612 as a safety against intrusions by Marathas and the Dutch. The fort is 1.3 mts. wide and 5 mts. High. The name of the fort was derived from the word agua, which means water in Portuguese.
A lighthouse, 13mt. in height is a striking feature of the fort. The lighthouse was built in 1864,to be used as an oil lamp, but in 1976 it was modernized. |

Fort Chapora |
Portuguese built the fort in 1617 to protect themselves from Muslim and Maratha rulers. Soon Marathas took fort, but then again in 1717, it was taken over by Portuguese.
The fort was rebuilt with underground tunnels. Marathas captured fort in 1739, however, in 1741 Portuguese regained the fort. |

Cabo da Rama Fort |
Situated on southern coast of Goa, it is believed that the name of the fort was derived from lord Ram who along with wife Sita, resided here when in exile.
Until 1763, when Portuguese took the fort from Raja of Sconda, it was in the regiment of various rulers. From 1797 to 1802, fort was under British rule. Till 1955, the remains of the fort were used as a prison. |
